Researcher biography

Dr David Harley is Acting Director and Research Director of the Queensland Centre for Intellectual and Developmental Disability (QCIDD).  The Centre is located at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Brisbane and is part of Mater Research Institute-UQ.

Dr Harley is a medical practitioner with specialist and general registration, a zoologist, and an epidemiologist.  He specialised in the health of adults with intellectual disability from 2002 to 2007, and returned to the field in 2017. 

He has published widely in infectious diseases epidemiology and disability.  He is currently a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians reference group on climate change and health.  He practices medicine at the QCIDD clinic and in general practice.
