Researcher biography

Stuart Kinner is an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow and Professor of Adolescent and Young Adult Health Equity in the Centre for Adolescent Health, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. He also holds Honorary appointments at University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, Monash University, and Griffith University. Stuart’s research focusses on the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalised people, particularly those exposed to the criminal justice system. He is experienced in longitudinal studies, data linkage, randomised controlled trials, meta-analysis and systematic review. He has produced more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and attracted almost AU$20 million in research and consulting funds, mostly from nationally competitive schemes. Stuart Chairs Australia’s National Youth Justice Health Advisory Group, Co-Chairs the Research Committee in the Academic Consortium on Criminal Justice Health, co-convenes the Justice Health Special Interest Group in the Public Health Association of Australia, and since 2005 has served on Australia’s National Prisoner Health Information Committee.
