We want to make it easier for people with intellectual disability and autistic people to go to hospital.

Health workers do not receive training and education in providing care for people with intellectual disability and autistic people. As a result, people with intellectual disability and those on the autism spectrum experience poor access to health care and often die earlier than the general population.

We want to change this. We're making education for health professionals to fill knowledge gaps in intellectual disability and autism.

We are currently running a trial of our education. We will be able to tell if it

  • taught health professionals about intellectual disability and autism
  • helped health professionals feel more confident working with patients with intellectual disability and those on the autism spectrum
  • changed the way health professionals think about disability
